Who Is Qualified For
Homeless Support
You can ask for homeless assistance if:
- Already homeless
- You are likely to be homeless in the next 8 weeks
- A section 21 notice is given to you by your landlord
Don’t worry, you may be able to get help from your council.

Some people can get emergency housing . Example: For example, families with children. Or any other person with priority need.
Please note that homeless support may be provided if you meet immigration conditions.
Unfortunately, if you have ‘No recourse to public funds’, you will not be able to get this assistance.
There is a different council department that deals with Families with no recourse to public funds.
There are also options for single people with no recourse to public funds.
Asking Council For Help
When you are homeless or you are about to be homeless in 8 weeks, it is advisable to seek help by making a homeless application. Many people get support through the council. Apply early so that the council may be able to provide timely support.
Emergency Housing
Request for emergency housing when required and when you are:
- a homeless family with children
- homeless because of domestic abuse
- someone who could have a priority need
Priority need here means if you are at more risk due to your health or any other reason.
